Toshiba couples portability with state-of-the-art technology in a new series of 2.5-inch, 5,400 RPM hard disk drives to deliver 750GB and 1TB storage capacities in a 12.5mm-high package. The MKxx59GSM series of SATA drives target today's massive digital content needs with capacity points typically supported by larger form factor 3.5-inch drives. New design elements of the MKxx59GSM series drive include Advanced Sector Format technology, which utilize the industry standard 4K byte-per-sector configuration and improved error correcting code functionality to enhance data integrity while making more efficient use of the storage surface area. Furthermore, Toshiba's environmental initiatives including lower power consumption techniques and components that reduce reliance on harmful chemicals, materials and compounds are also represented in the MKxx59GSM design. The MKxx59GSM series drive is designed to support strong growth segments for high capacity storage purposes including external add on storage and tape replacement products as well as, docking stations, gaming notebooks, mobile work stations and other capacity hungry applications.
