Toshiba MKxx65GSXF 2.5" Free Fall Sensor HDD
Toshiba's MKxx65GSXF Series of 5,400 RPM hard disk drives (HDDs) provide high capacity and energy efficient solutions for a myriad of 2.5-inch applications as well as those traditionally served by larger form factor drives. Using a 320GB per platter platform, the line spans capacity points from 160GB to 640GB across five different models. The MKxx65GSXF also has the advantages of 300G's of operating shock and 1000G's of non-operating shock. Furthermore, the new drive incorporates Free Fall Sensor technology. This technology uses an embedded motion sensor to detect if the drive is in free fall. In such cases, the HDD quickly and immediately moves the read/write heads away from the spinning to prevent them damaging any data upon impact. Durability, mobility and power efficiency are combined with a design approach focused on enhancing the environmental soundness of the MKxx65GSXF line by decreasing or eliminating the use of certain toxic, hazardous or controversial chemicals in the drive. In addition, power consumption can be reduced by more than 80% with the MKxx65GSXF over like capacity 3.5-inch hard disk drives, making the MKxx65GSXF ideal for notebook, all-in-one and EnergyStar desktop PCs, printers, set top boxes, video surveillance systems, external storage devices and other computing applications.
