High areal densities of 9.3 GB/in2, combined with Fujitsu’s third-generation of GMR heads and MEEPRML read channel technologies, enables these large-capacity drives to deliver outstanding performance. In fact, the sensitivity of Fujitsu’s GMR heads is nearly 20 times greater than conventional MR heads, permitting much higher data density. With capacities of 12.0GB, 9.0GB or 6.0GB, these Mobile series drives are big enough to hold large multimedia presentations, fast enough to run them, and small enough to fit in today’s compact mobile computers and notebooks.

Prevents and Resists Shock - The Mobile 18 XP drives are durable enough to withstand up to a 700G shock by offering a number of features designed to prevent shock and increase reliability. First, there’s the Mobile 18 XP’s revolutionary base casting. This stiffness- reinforced base delivers enhanced stability for greater vibration and shock resistance. The Mobile series’ repeatable run-out compensation corrects mechanical “disk shift” by automatically performing diagnostics and any necessary adjustments each time the drive starts up. Finally, Fujitsu Computer Products of America has implemented spacers to limit the head’s z-axis movement, greatly reducing head shock.

In addition, the Mobile 18 XP drives feature Self- Monitoring Analysis and Reporting (S.M.A.R.T.), an automatic detection system that gives users advanced warning of possible drive inconsistencies.
